Antelope Canyon consists of two separate formations, called Upper Antelope Canyon and Lower Antelope Canyon.
The two sections are separated by road 98. The rift that generated the two canyons, on its way to Lake Powell,
first finds a barrier consisting of a sandstone formation placed transversely along its path.
Here it generates the Upper Antelope Canyon (Upper Antelope Canyon) only two hundred and seventy meters long, easier and easier.
Continuing the approach towards the lake, after about five kilometers to the north, the erosion penetrates
the ground generating the longest and least easy Lower Antelope Canyon
(Lower Antelope Canyon) over four kilometers long.
Both sections, which can only be visited with the assistance of Navaho guides, constitute a true wonder of nature,
and are a real challenge for photographers due to the difficult light conditions.
In some periods of the year and day, the upper part is characterized by beams of light that reach the ground.
Both sections of Antelope Canyon may be subject to flash floods.
Violent rains, even very distant from the site, can in fact cause sudden
and dangerous floods with little or no warning.
