From Dante’s View you can enjoy a general overview of the southern basin of the Death Valley.
From Dante’s View, the Owlshead Mountains located 30 kilometers away to the south and the Funeral Mountains 50 kilometers behind Furnace Creek to the north. In front of Dante’s View, to the west, the Panamint Range mountain range from which some gullies depart, the Trail Canyon (Canalone della Mulattiera), Death Valley Canyon (Canalone della Valle della Morte) and the Hanaupah Canyon
(Canalone dell’Acqua Bear). To the east are the Greenwater Ranges, on which Ryan is located, a mine closed in 1918.
Also from Dante’s View, on the clearest days you can simultaneously see the highest and lowest
point in the United States, Mount Whitney 4,418 meters high and Badwater (Acquacattiva) -86 m.
From Dante’s View you can appreciate all the details of the basin that formed Lake Manly
and what remains of it in Badwater which is located directly below.
